Shot Purple Banarasi Kadhuan Brocade Handwoven Katan Silk Saree

The Composition: This saree uses Pure Mulberry Silk warp and weft. It has the luxurious feel and subtle sheen which you associate with a silk product.

The Iridescence: This product features a beautiful iridescent color effect, where the color subtly changes as you rotate the fabric or change angle of view. This is achieved by using contrasting warp and weft. The contrast is often subtle by using two shades of the same family, and sometimes stark like pink and blue.

The Weave: The saree features the Kadhuan Brocade weaving technique, considered to be the epitome of handloom brocade weaving, to create the motifs. Each buta is woven individually with a hand shuttle, diligently, one line at a time by a master weaver. Weaving time for each saree is usually in excess of 200 man hours, often significantly longer.

The Measurements: The saree measures approximately 5.4 meters (220 inches) in length, 1.10 meters (44 inches) in width and 900 g in weight.

The Blouse: The saree comes with an unstitched blouse piece measuring 70-90 cms. Please refer to the last product image for a snapshot of the blouse piece.
