This saree uses
Zari and silk in the warp and weft or vice-versa.
The use of zari in the warp/weft lends the saree an exclusive metallic sheen and makes it ideally suited for special occasions.
In this Ikat saree, the design motifs are first resist-dyed onto the warp or the weft threads, or sometimes both, and then diligently woven into a scarf on a handloom. It takes great patience & craftmanship to weave these scarves as the warp and weft threads need to intersect perfectly to re-produce the preset pattern. A true work of art.
The saree measures approximately 5.4 meters (220 inches) in length, 1.10 meters (44 inches) in width and 870 g in weight.
The saree comes with an unstitched blouse piece measuring 70-80 cms. Please refer to the last product image for a snapshot of the blouse piece. The blouse that the model is wearing is for illustration purpose only.
To see the richeness of the weave and zari in a handwoven saree, we recommend you see the fabric along the length.
In a handloom saree, the motif yarns and zari, if any, run across the width, and the richness of motifs is more visible when your line of sight is perpendicular to these motif yarns,
ie when your sight runs along the length of the saree.
